Design Technology Policy

At Cauldwell Design and Technology is taught within our Creative Curriculum, in Key Stages 1 and 2, through a progression of skills introduced and extended as the children move through the school.

During Design and Technology children learn to evaluate items from the past and present, solve problems, take risks and use their imagination to design, make and evaluate products that solve real life problems.

Through focused practical tasks children will be taught skills that they can use to help to inform and improve their designs to ensure the product is fit for purpose and its audience.  They have opportunities to explore their own ideas, develop ways to solve problems as they arise and evaluate their own work.

During cooking and nutrition sessions (formerly food technology) children will be taught about a healthy diet.
