From September 2014 it will be statutory for the Key Stage 2 children to be taught a modern foreign language. The focus is on one language and culture taught in depth, so that children can make substantial progress.
At Cauldwell Spanish is taught across the school from Years 1 to 6. Initially children learn Spanish through spoken language and communication; this is taught through conversation, songs, rhymes and stories. Extensive use is made of visual and interactive activities. In Upper Key Stage 2 more reading and writing of the language is introduced.
We have achieved the Intermediate International Award.
